Meet our CODE_n CONTEST Finalists 2016: INS Insider Navigation from Austria
Part two of our startup series! This time we would like to introduce Insider Navigation (INS), the first company that offers augmented reality based indoor navigation without the use of additional hardware. INS, belonging to our Connected Mobility cluster of this year’s CODE_n CONTEST, offers complete indoor experience concepts creating benefits for visitors, tentants and operators. We talked to Clemens Kirner, founder of Insider Navigation, about his startup based in Austria.
What is INS Insider Navigation all about? How did you come up with the idea?
Clemens: We are the first supplier to offer a hardware free indoor navigation from the process of initialising a venue till the actual usage from users. No need for Wifi, beacons or whatever. It merges real and digital world and so brings end user a total new indoor experience and business clients have an efficient way to merge their data with its buildings.
“Digital Disruption“ – that’s the motto of this year’s CODE_n CONTEST. What makes your solution innovative, what makes it disruptive?
Clemens: Our solution is easy scalable and so enables everybody around the world to map and augment their buildings. This will change how people work and interact with buildings.
You’re one of the 13 finalists in the Connected Mobility contest cluster. Which challenges do you think young companies have to face in this sector? How do you handle these challenges?
Clemens: There are a lot of challenges:
- Finding enough funding
- Finding the right motivated team
- Focus on your core competences and bringing it into a business plan
But when you believe in what you are doing all of this is possible to handle. We got a great team, investors and strategic partners which support us on our way.
Your current demo videos show your solution being used at Dubai airport (above) and Heathrow airport (website) – airports definitely being one of the locations in which your app becomes extremely useful. Beyond that: for which spots and scenarios do you see the most potential?
Clemens: Besides the obvious use cases like airports and shopping malls we got a lot of different requests from industry partner for their factories, hospitals, museums, stores and many other different venues. The requests are from all over the world: UK, Germany, Switzerland, Brasil, UAE, India, …
Thanks for the interview, Clemens!
