Karlsruhe is an important centre of IT. With over 4,200 companies, a diverse landscape of science and research, and circa 30,000 people employed in the ICT sector, Karlsruhe and its surrounding region comprise Europe’s fourth-largest IT cluster. This is also clearly reflected in the portfolio of Karlsruher Messe- und Kongress-GmbH (KMK). KMK is very favourably positioned in this future-oriented industry with well-established events about digitization in the fields of education, healthcare, and the mobility and financial sectors, which number among the core themes of the Code_n new.New Festival.

A few examples are: LEARNTEC, IT-TRANS – International Conference and Exhibition on Intelligent Urban Transport Systems –, the Congress on Ambient Asissted Living (AAL), SAP DKOM, and the COM trade fair for IT and banking. These and other events with a focus on IT annually attract thousands of experts from around the world to Karlsruhe. LEARNTEC and IT-TRANS also number among the exhibitors at CODE_n.

The thematic competence of KMK, along with a strong commercial and scientific environment in the IT field, are two convincing reasons why technological events feel particularly comfortable in Karlsruhe. Germany’s largest inner-city convention centre and the trade fair also provide an extensive spectrum of diverse venues. These enable organizers to offer numerous potential combinations and changes of atmosphere.

The Convention Centre with its Stadthalle, Gartenhalle and Schwarzwaldhalle, as well as the Konzerthaus, comprise four locations with a total of 20,000 square meters of exhibition area and space for up to 13,000 visitors. The Stadthalle, which forms the heart of the Convention Centre, will undergo renovations starting in the summer of 2017, thus further improving Karlsruhe’s ability to embody the spirit of innovation. The Stadthalle will remain closed for approximately two years, but the neighbouring Gartenhalle will serve as an appropriate interim location throughout this interval. With its modern industrial look, the light-flooded Gartenhalle will be furnished with additional conference rooms. It will accordingly be equally well suited for experience-oriented events and for sophisticated specialized congresses.

At the modern Trade Fair Centre, which has won prizes for its architecture and is situated just outside the gates of Karlsruhe, the Conference Center makes space available for circa 2,000 people. This location also offers four halls with a total area of 50,000 square meters, the totally glassed-in Aktionshalle, and an open-air exhibition area with 62,000 square meters of space: together, these premises comprise an innovative frame for big events.

No matter which location one chooses, each is equipped with the state-of-the-art congress technology, stable WLAN, hot spots, and technologies for lighting, dimming and darkening the rooms, thus offering optimal conditions for networking, sharing, and knowledge transfer.
